What a freakin fantastic musical! Who knew right? Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, you didn't think it could happen, but my doubting friends it has.
It starts off with the Mustache man, you see there on the cover, coming into town for some supplies, when he decides he needs a wife to take back to his brothers. He sings a beautiful ballad about how he wants his woman to have heavenly eyes and be just the right size, plus she needs to be tough and a wonderful cook, that's Millie the girl being held in Mustache man's arms.
when he finishes his song he stops to ask Millie if she'll marry him.
oh my gosh! she did it! she married a hick from out of town. Then she moved in with her new husband the mustache hick and his Seven Brothers. Amazingly enough, out of the Seven brothers only two of them are attractive.
Any who, Millie when she gets to her new life with her hick mustache husband and his seven brothers she starts to worry. weird huh. The house is a mess, her new brothers are a mess and she feels that she didn't bring enough to feed her new family. but Millie being who she is, The girl with heavenly eyes being just the right size plus she is tough and a wonderful cook, she sets to work. Millie cleans the house, she cleans up her brothers, teaches them manners and how to dance (with a good song I might add) and she gets them excited about going to the farm raising and meeting all them girls.
the farm raising goes well in the sense that Millie has trained a bunch of ladies men, but the town's people don't go for it, they can only see Hicks from out of town trying to steal their women, so of course there is a HUGE fight. Millie and her clan go back to where they came from
(out of town)
The boys are sad. They thought they really had something going with those girls at the farm raising but they live so far away. So they sing a song about how much it sucks being a hick from out of town it's called "lonesome Polecat" another name for it is called "lame and lonely hick from out of town." So mustache husband, being the good older brother and wanting to cheer up his younger single brothers, sings a song about "Sobbin' Women" and how the men just took and married the women they wanted. What a phenomenal idea! we'll go and take the ladies we love bring um back here and marry them!
They do it! and ladies and gentlemen that's how it happens. the love connection is strong, the songs are great! the beards are even better. it is a must see musical. must see.
